What is Ootake Camera?

Founded in 1963, Ootake Camera began as a small neighborhood store and grew into a local photography business rooted in Aizu.

Today, we provide bird photography guiding services and camera support while sharing the beauty of nature and photography with visitors from around the world.

Absolutely.
We welcome everyone from complete beginners to experienced photographers.

Bridge cameras, DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, spotting scopes and binoculars are all welcome.

We confirm the meeting time and location by email.

Check-in

Meet at our store and complete payment.

Travel

Move to the photography location.

Photography

Enjoy wildlife observation and photography.

Return

Return to the store after the session.

Transfer to your hotel or station if needed.

Who Joins Our Tours?

Most of our guests travel from the Tokyo metropolitan area, but we welcome visitors from across Japan and overseas.

Participants range from beginners to advanced photographers.

We regularly host solo travelers, couples, groups of friends, and international guests.

What Equipment Do I Need?

A portable chair is required inside our hides. A compact model that does not sink into soft ground is recommended.

If your goal is birdwatching, binoculars are all you need.

For photography, we recommend using a tripod.

Rental equipment is available.

Chair Rental: ¥500
Tripod & Head Rental: ¥3,000

What Should I Wear?

Please wear practical outdoor clothing in natural colors that can get dirty.

Winter temperatures can be very cold, so warm clothing is essential from November through mid-May.

Summer in Aizu can be hot and humid, especially from July through September.

Accommodation

Pick-up and drop-off service is available around Aizu-Wakamatsu Station.

Aizu is home to many wonderful hot spring resorts, making it an ideal destination for a relaxing photography trip.
