Mountain Hawk-Eagle 《Beauty · Power · Challenge》 — A Captivating Bird of Prey

The Mountain Hawk-Eagle Photography Guide runs mainly from mid-November through early May. Please dress in warm, unobtrusive clothing.

◆ Recommended Equipment
We recommend a focal length of 600mm–1200mm (full-frame equivalent).

◆ Shooting Distance
Distance varies each session, but at its closest we have been as near as approximately 20 meters.
Throughout the season we aim for an average shooting distance of 100–150 meters.

◆ Shooting Hours
It is commonly said that opportunities arise around 10:00 AM — likely when the birds are moving between territories. However, at our locations we consistently achieve excellent results in the early morning, including hunting action and close-range branch perching. For this reason, our meeting and departure time is 6:00–7:00 AM.

◆ Notes for Photographers
To maximize the possibility of close encounters, we ask for your cooperation. Our guide will support you on the day.
1. Most sessions involve the eagle during hunting or resting periods. Please be as quiet as possible so as not to disturb the bird.
2. If the bird is very close, shooting from inside the vehicle may be required.
3. When the eagle is nearby, please move slowly and calmly, and avoid pointing fingers in its direction.
4. If you use a white telephoto lens, please cover it with camouflage cloth or similar to minimize visibility.

◆ Shooting Location
The ground is stable, but please wear shoes that won't slip and that you don't mind getting dirty.

◆ Guide Fee
From April 2026 — ¥22,000 per person (tax included) · Maximum 4 guests per session

◆ How to Book
Please contact us with your preferred date via the calendar below or by email.
We will reply confirming whether a guide is available on that day.
Bookings are accepted from 1 guest.

◆ Meeting Time & Location
As a guideline, we meet and depart around 6:00–7:00 AM and wrap up around 12:00 noon.
The default meeting point is the Ootake Camera shop. If you are staying near Aizu-Wakamatsu Station or Kitakata Station, pickup and drop-off is available.
Please note in the message field whether you will come to the shop or where you would like to be picked up. Times may vary slightly depending on pickup arrangements.
※ Guests arriving by private car are kindly asked to come to the shop directly if possible.

At the end of the booking process, there is a message field.
Please enter your preferred meeting point there.

We always guide guests to the very best shooting location available on the day. These spots are irreplaceable and cherished by many guests.

To protect these locations, we issue a Photography Agreement and ask all guests to sign and stamp it on the day.
