and the resident male chased it off immediately with alarm calls.
The confrontation played out right in front of us — a rare and dramatic scene.
Before the ground freezes and while the pair still has time together —
this is the season when the bond between them is most visible.
On the 22nd, the male and female perched side by side on the same branch.
A quiet, unhurried moment — the kind that stays with you long after the session ends.
Autumn colors are now at their peak around the base.
