PHILOSOPHY

Facing nature with sincerity,
we design shooting experiences that reach the very essence.

We design the process that leads to the moment of emotion.

We keep offering the finest experience.

Growing value together with the community,
we keep creating a place in Aizu that you will want to come back to again and again.

Brand Story

Aizu before dawn. Only the sound of the river echoes quietly.

Sensing the signs, we simply keep waiting for that moment.

The focus locks beyond the viewfinder, and the world changes.
We believe that emotion is not a coincidence, but something reached through experience and understanding,

and through the accumulation of both.

Feeling the emotion found through the viewfinder together with you.

Sharing the Emotion Found Through the Viewfinder

FEEL THE WILD

We don’t want to simply sell cameras.
Founded in 1963, through photography
we have stood beside the milestones and joys in the lives of local people.
Times have changed, and so has the environment for taking photographs,
but the value of the moment when someone becomes absorbed in something has not changed.
That is why we have nurtured bird photography
as a new kind of value and a new field.
Meeting a single photograph can make a person fall in love with it.
Ootake Camera wants to support that very first step —
to be a “doorway to the real thing.”

HISTORY

Ootake Camera in 1963, the early days

1963 — The early days

Snow-covered Aizu.

Snow-covered Aizu.

Back in the days of film,
as a small photo shop in town,
 Ootake Camera began.

Photo club activities,
ties with the people of the community
 and time spent chasing nature.

Even as times changed,
“I want to keep the emotion in the photograph”
  — that feeling alone never changed.

Going into the mountains, visiting the rivers,
we kept searching for light and the signs of life.

Our present bird photography guiding too
lies at the end of a long accumulation of time.

A major turning point was 3.11 — the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011.

In the land of Aizu,
facing nature,
we will keep designing new experiences of emotion.

The emotion found through the viewfinder —
we will keep sharing it with you.
